In an era dominated by big data, artificial intelligence, and precision marketing, companies are going to great lengths to acquire personal data, and governments are eager to ride this wave as well. For instance, the introduction of the eID Digital ID card in 2020 aimed to make accessing and utilizing personal data more convenient. However, current laws governing the issuance of ID cards lack regulations on critical aspects such as digital footprint management and accountability mechanisms.
This lecture will also address the data governance issues highlighted by the National Health Insurance database case and the progress of related legal amendments.
