Screening [16 May 2025] "Lauchabo" by TSAI Yann-shan + Post-Screening Discussion

In 1997, the Taipei City Government suddenly repealed the "Taipei City Prostitution Management Regulations," leaving 128 legally employed sex workers without their right to work overnight. These women were forced to take to the streets, fighting for a two-year grace period.
Their brave actions sparked a recognition of this group of "thàn-tsia̍h-tsa-bóo" workers in Taiwanese society: Who are they? Why do they need this work?

This documentary combines footage and archival materials from past protests to weave together the life stories of these marginalized women. It not only exposes the harsh consequences of policies and politics on people, but also reveals the moments of tenderness shared between individuals—and even between humans and cats.
