Community development involves a group of people working together to improve their community. Driven by a shared desire to make their hometowns better, numerous community builders in Taiwan have dedicated themselves to local work, creating countless touching stories rooted in the land. Stories can change the world. Culture grows from the soil. If you are willing to firmly plant your feet in the earth, you will discover infinite resources to enrich your life and write your own spectacular life story through your journey.

HUANG CHEN-TEH

Chairman, Taitung Sustainable

A native Taitungian, he has dedicated his life to caring for the land. For thirty years, he has tirelessly promoted community development in Taitung through a non-governmental organization, documenting local ecological and cultural life across mountains, oceans, and offshore islands, and working with community builders in villages and tribes to make their hometowns better.

For nearly 20 years, he has been involved in the restoration and revitalization of the historical building, Guoben Farm. He transformed a neglected old structure into an aesthetic space, a cultural asset that tells local stories, and a base for practicing sustainable development principles.
