本課程以工業革命為經，全球化不平均發展為緯，聯合國2030永續發展目標(UN Sustainable Development Goals)為願景，讓學生從人類探索科學知識，改善生產工具，卻同時破壞生態系服務之歷史開始，探討20世紀以降，科技全球化帶來包含環境、社會、經濟、全球分工等議題，認識並比較世界各大洲現況。課程將以案例研討方式，提供實際改變可能性，促使學生思考專業能力如何達成永續發展目標。科技的進步應提社會的福祉，本課程將人文關懷與社會思考傳遞給本校學生，培養其見樹又見林的永續意識，希冀培養具人文精神與永續精神的全球科技人。
This course takes the industrial revolution and the uneven development of globalization as the backbone. It cultivates students to have a vision for the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (UN Sustainable Development Goals). It allows students to explore scientific knowledge from humans and improve production tools while destroying ecosystem services. This course discusses the issues of the globalization of science and technology since the 20th century, including the environment, society, economy, and global division of labor, to understand and compare the current situation of the world. The course will use case study methods to provide practical possibilities for change and encourage students to think about how to achieve sustainable development goals for their professional abilities. The progress of science and technology should improve the well-being of the human society. This course conveys humanistic care and social thinking to the students and cultivates the comprehensive sustainable consciousness. It aims to cultivate global scientific and technological sojourners with humanistic and sustainable spirit.
