[D Area] Introduction to Taiwanese Culture (NTNU)

Course Objective

Since the 1990s, a large number of books on Taiwan have been published, and junior high schools implemented the history, geography, and social studies curriculum from Understanding Taiwan in 1997. College students already have an understanding of Taiwanese culture, and their departments offer courses on different themes of Taiwanese culture for students to study according to their majors. In this course, students will be guided through the various cultural themes of Taiwan through "observing life”, as well as using language phenomena or lyrics of popular songs as a guide. The topics to be discussed include "Taiwan History", "Taiwan Ethnic Groups", "Taiwan Language", "Taiwan Food", and "Taiwan Folk Beliefs". It is expected that students take the initiative to observe the phenomenon of life and take interest in Taiwanese culture while learning, and discuss and share in the classroom to understand its meaning.
