Lecture [27 Mar 2025]: Cinemnemay: The Gifts of the Earth and the Future of Xizhou Village
Xizhou Village is a unique indigenous cultural space located by the Xindian River in the Greater Taipei area. It is one of the indigenous settlements situated on the outskirts of the Greater Taipei metropolitan area. The 170 residents of Xizhou Village are mostly from the Amis tribe, originally from Hualien and Taitung, The village preserves the Ami people's religious beliefs and ceremonial traditions, which are distinct from the lifestyle of the Han Chinese. Xizhou Village continues to uphold a culture of harmony with nature and fosters a sustainable way of life. Offering an opportunity for reflection on life-styles, it can be seen as a grand tribute for residents in the Greater Taipei.
