Participants learned strategies to build trust and foster connection in diverse cultural settings. The lecture was conducted in Mandarin.

[27 Mar 2025] Cinemnemay: The Gifts of the Earth and the Future of Xizhou Village

Xizhou Village is an indigenous settlement and a unique  cultural space located by the Xindian River in the Greater Taipei metropolitan area. The 170 residents of Xizhou Village are mostly from the Amis tribe, originally from Hualien and Taitung, The village preserves the Ami people's religious beliefs and ceremonial traditions, which are distinct from the lifestyle of the Han Chinese. Xizhou Village continues to uphold a culture of harmony with nature and fosters a sustainable way of life.
Offering an opportunity for reflection on life-styles, it can be seen as a grand tribute for residents in the Greater Taipei.

 [13 Mar 2025] How to Prevent the Abuse of Personal Data? The Future of Digital Governance and Accountability Mechanisms

This lecture examined the challenges of data governance in the age of big data, artificial intelligence, and precision marketing. While initiatives like the 2020 eID Digital ID card have streamlined the collection and use of personal information, legal frameworks remain outdated and lack clear accountability mechanisms for managing digital footprints. The session also discussed prominent cases, including issues surrounding the National Health Insurance database, and explored the ongoing progress of legal reforms to better protect personal privacy.

[18 Nov 2024] A Guide to the Impact of Place and Art

This lecture examined how art can become a catalyst for community engagement and social innovation. Focusing on Keelung’s Zhengbin Fishing Harbor, the speaker introduced the work of Xingbin Co-Creation Studio and its role in local revitalization.
The session shared how collaborative art practices have supported regional curation, space activation, artist residencies, cultural education, and experiential events. By redefining the relationship between place and art, the lecture offered fresh perspectives on strengthening local identity and inspiring collective action.

[1 Oct 2024] Where does Journalism and Press Freedom Stand in Today's World?

This lecture examined the current challenges facing press freedom worldwide and why journalism is essential to an informed society. Shataakshi Verma, Project and Development Manager at Reporters Without Borders (RSF) Asia Pacific Bureau in Taipei, introduced RSF’s mission and global work defending freedom of information. The session covered the World Press Freedom Index, its methodology, and examples of RSF’s successful international campaigns. Participants also explored how different sectors can collaborate to protect press freedom in the face of growing threats. Founded in 1985 in France, Reporters Without Borders (Reporters Sans Frontières = RSF) is at the forefront of the defence and promotion of freedom of information.

[9 Sept 2024] Finding Culture in Everyday Life: Promoting the Charm of Taipei's South Side Area

Taipei's South Side area is rich with cultural and artistic venues, and hidden gems can be found throughout its streets and alleys. Since 2018, the General Association of Chinese Culture (GACC)  has hosted the South Taipei Fun Carnival, bringing together  public and private organizations, local businesses, and community residents. 
Over the past seven years, more than 500,000 people have participated, and the event has been honored with the Golden Pin Design Award in the Integration Design category. This lecture will explore how the GACC has woven together the beautiful gems of the South Side, making the South Taipei Fun Carnival a highly anticipated annual spring festival in Taipei.

[28 March 2024] Taiwan Tech Artist-in-Residence Program: Light installations and Digital Art

Taiwan Tech invited two members of the internationally acclaimed 9 Grid Design group as 2024 artists-in-residence. 9 Grid Design has staged numerous large-scale audiovisual performances, produced concert visuals, and executed performance art projects in recent years. During the spring term of 2024, they will offer a Liberal Arts course at our university, guiding students to create their own light-sound installation performances.
