🙋‍♀️What is the “Empathy Social Lab: CGE Social Practice Week”?

This is an initiative by the Center for General Education aimed at promoting the core spirit of social engagement. We invite groups actively involved in social practice to our campus to showcase various strategies and formats of creating social impact through a series of diverse events held over several days. Social practice seeks to bring change to our daily challenges—it begins with empathy, requires innovative strategies, and embraces a spirit of experimentation. We envision it as a  lab for building a better future.

✨Handcraft x Empowerment: Sustainable Practice by Swing Reeds
In collaboration with the “Chun-Ya Association for Public Welfare Innovation – Swing Reeds,” it is explored how social innovation can drive circular economy and women’s empowerment. The event includes talks, interactive handcraft experiences, and a market stall showcasing a sustainability concept inspired by the reuse of coffee bean sacks.Two hands-on workshops (in Chinese, and in English) are offered on Thursday, May 8.The goal is to promote the ideas of circular economy and net-zero emissions, encouraging cooperation between individuals and industries toward a green and sustainable future.

✨Voices from Mekong: Film Screening, Panel Discussion, and Workshops
Listen to stories and voices from the Mekong region by joining screenings at the mobile cinema cabin at Taiwan Tech, featuring short films from Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam. The Mekong River, the region's mother of life, is at the center of conflicts over water, pollution, and overdevelopment. How are artists and cultural creators responding to sustainability issues with creativity and cross-disciplinary collaboration?
The  Mekong 2030 project—launched at the Luang Prabang Film Festival in Laos—presents five short films co-produced across Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam. These films explore the long-standing conflicts of humans and nature. This event includes five days of film screenings, two workshops/seminars, and a post-screening panel discussion, featuring invited experts from the United States and Thailand.
