[EMI教師社群]General Education as a Pathway for Community Engagement, Global Mobility, and International Collaboration(2026.06.05)

0605

  • 掌握 COIL(跨國線上合作學習)的課程設計方式

Abstract

This presentation explores how general education can serve as a dynamic framework for student engagement across local and global contexts and for strengthening the pedagogical impact of EMI courses. Drawing on a model from the University of California San Diego, the session highlights how an integrated, interdisciplinary curriculum can become a vehicle for both academic and experiential learning. Discussion will showcase a range of initiatives that extend learning beyond the classroom — from undergraduate study-abroad experiences to environmental field programs within California, and international collaborations through Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) projects in Taiwan. This session illustrates how general education programs can foster curiosity, global awareness, and meaningful connection between students, communities, and the wider world.
