upon completing this course, students will be able to: 1. Identify the historical development of science and technology from a socio-historical perspective and assess their impact on society, particularly in relation to sustainability and global development goals. 2. Demonstrate a critical understanding of key concepts that connect science, technology, and the humanities, with attention to their ethical, social, and environmental implications in the context of the SDGs. 3. Evaluate the relationship between everyday cultural practices and technological developments, and formulate critical arguments about the interplay between technology and society, especially in addressing challenges such as climate action, inequality, and responsible consumption. 4. Effectively apply theoretical frameworks and critical thinking to understand the evolving roles of science, technology, and society in shaping a more inclusive, equitable, and sustainable future, in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals.

This course explores the relationships among science and technology, culture, and society. Students will learn key theories such as technological determinism, actor-network theory, participatory culture, the society of the spectacle, and the digital media society. These frameworks will be effectively applied and analyzed to understand the connections between the development of communications and screen interface technologies (e.g., tablets, smartphones) and cultural evolution, as well as contemporary technological issues in modern life. Students will apply the Winston model to deeply analyze the development process of technological innovation, understand its impacts on social structures, culture, and the economy, and reflect on how to balance technological advancement with social needs within a framework of sustainable development. Through case-based exercises, the course integrates theoretical knowledge with practical application, enabling students to gain a comprehensive learning experience rooted in critical thinking and sustainable practices.  Course Introduction and Assessment Methods  Key Concepts of Sustainability: Economy, Environment, Society, and Culture  Theoretical Frameworks for Understanding Science, Technology, and Society (Part 1)  Theoretical Frameworks for Understanding Science, Technology, and Society (Part 2)  The Impact of Speech, Writing, and Print  The Invention and History of the Modern Computer  The Development of Mobile Media and M
